When we started the brand…

There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that the name had to be Kokoro – it embodied everything that I wanted for my company, for us to be the very best we could be in all that we do and be mindful and conscious of the world around us and all its wonderful people too!

My philosophy in life has always been to embrace, build, lift, and encompass the diversity of our world and so the brand had to be about celebrating people’s individual style.

Kokoro collections are vivacious and bold, adventurous, authentic, and joyous. And they are clothes to be worn every day! I am a true believer that clothes are there to make you happy so why keep them in the closet, wear that beautiful dress even if it’s just for a walk in the park, do it for yourself, do it for your joy.

Who are our style heroes?

Well, we LOVE Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele - her mix of colour and print is formidable! And we love to mix!!!

Faye Dunaway in the Thomas Crown affair – beyond divine.

My boho icons of course are Talitha Getty and Marisa Berenson.

My two favourite words of all time are Joyous and Sensational (as in You’re Sensational from High Society - you have to say it the way Frank and Grace sing it)

We are the antithesis of fast fashion, our clothes are not seasonal, they have longevity and individuality that bypass trends. We love our clients to re-purpose and recondition pieces, it’s a service we have offered from the start and we’re the very best at it!

Are we sustainable you ask? YES!

Right from the beginning, it is always been important to know exactly where our products came from, that’s why we only produce with historic run factories in the UK and Kyoto, Japan. This ensures both durability and a conscious fair trade for our products. We only produce limited runs on each style. And all our packaging is plastic-free.

We so want there to be a world where there is room for small artisanal designers, cottage industries, the one-of-a-kind’s, so as well as our own brand, our store mix is built on relationships: whether they are the artisans who are producing our clothes and accessories, the artist we collaborate with or the young designers we showcase. They all have one thread, authenticity, and joy in making beautiful pieces.

The heart of everything we do is building confidence.
